Cleansers

Facial Cleansers for oily skin.

Picking a good facial cleanser is vital for people with the oily skin type. Here are some key points to keep in mind:

  • Avoid harsh cleansers which contain chemicals such as alcohol.
  • If a cleanser leaves your skin feeling dry and tight then you should consider using a different cleanser.
  • Avoid heavy cleansing creams.
  • Use an oil based cleanser (yes oil based!).
  • “Gel” cleansers are recommended.
  • Use soaps that contain minimal artificial additives (or none at all).
  • A cleanser that contains lavender is recommended.
  • Cleansers that contain Hyaluronic acid are recommended.

Harsh cleansers that contain chemicals such as alcohol leave the skin feeling dry and tight. This causes the skin to produce more oil to compensate for the dryness. This is not the result we are after, which is why using a more gentle cleanser is recommended.

Using an oil based cleanser is debatable, and some people are afraid to try this out. Many experts recommend using oil-free or water based cleansers for people with oily skin however using an oil based cleanser could yield better results as the oil based cleanser can dissolve the oil from your skin and when you wash off the cleanser, the oil from your skin washes off with it in a gentle way. If you have never tried this then maybe it is worth seeing if it works for you.

Soaps and cleansers that contain unnecessary ingredients such as perfume may look and smell more appealing however they are unlikely to add benefits to the health of your skin. There are however some ingredients that could specifically benefit the oily skin type. An example of this is lavender.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in skin and other areas of the body. Cleansers that contain Hyaluronic acid are recommended as it helps maintain healthy skin. Naturally occurring Hyaluronic acid decreases with age.

The most important thing to remember when picking a facial cleanser is to keep trailing products and pick the product that works best with your skin.

If you see that a product may be working wonders on other people, but it does not seem to be having the same affect on you, do not get put off by this, just try something different.

Always remember not to cleanse too frequently. Overdoing it may cause the skin to dry and the glands to overcompensate and produce more oil. Twice a day is enough for most people however three times a day may work better for others. Always remember to moisturize after cleansing.

Really nice article… but i think many people would afraid of using an oil based cleanser even me too… as for the people who have really oily skin like me will never ever think about pouring oil on oil….

Its like we all have different skin types and we have to be lil daring while using any new product to understand which product suits us best..

Like Oriflame’s Pure Nature Organic Aloe Vera & Arnica Extract Soothing Face Wash suits me a lot..

I’ve been using this from a long time and feels really clean and smooth skin without using something harsh…
